Lent at Hope Chapel
a season of repentance and renewal
Lent has traditionally been a time of fasting and spiritual preparation for the forty days, excluding Sundays, leading up to Easter Sunday. It begins with Ash Wednesday (named because of the ashes traditionally used in the service to symbolize grief and repentance), and ends on the Saturday before Easter. Sundays are excluded from the forty days because they express the resurrection as a present reality.
Using This Site
We hope this website will serve as a helpful tool during the season of Lent. There are two ways to make use of the resources here.
First, the "Daily Reflection" page will be updated regularly, so you can keep up with the reflections from that page (despite the name, it actually isn't daily-- more like twice a week). If you'd like to be notified when the postings are updated, you can subscribe to the RSS feed using Google Reader, Bloglines, or a number of other RSS readers.
The second way you can participate is by downloading/viewing the book online. Simply click on the "View/Download Book" page and you'll find those options. Of course, if you are part of the Hope Chapel community, physical copies will be available on Sunday mornings free of charge.
